I have a yummy recipie for Pumpkin bars, which I decided to make for Thanksgiving in lieu of Pumpkin pie. DH is antisugar (for himself, goes back to the low carb thing) and wants Splenda. So, I told him (thinking it was true) that I could make the bars with Splenda. I realized it wouldn't work so I added the two cups of powdered sugar. So, do I tell him or let him enjoy the bars and just keep my trap closed?? A little white lie won't hurt him so is it harmful?
ps. you know my answer, just curious what the rest of you think![]()

Well, I'm ok with the usual little white lie, but I have to admit I'd be mad if I was following a diet.

I'm the odd one out, huh? I guess if the lie was to sneak in something healthy, ok, but how serious is he about sugar?

I'm thinking how many bars will he actually eat... not too many that it will ruin his diet, right? If he was diabetic and the sugar could really harm him then I would be honest, however, this doesn't seem to be the case.

well since my hubby is diabetic I would have to tell him. Just tell him the truth, that splenda wouldn't work and you had to use a "little" sugar.

HAHA No, he is not diabetic and while he would insist on me using Splenda, he certainly had no problems polishing off candy from Gs party bag this week
I simply told him that I had to add "some" powdered sugar in it. He still managed to down three or four. So did I am man they were delic!!!
Melin, you are so honest
I would be angry if I were following a diet and got lied to, also. The problem is, he really isn't following any diet, just tries to act like he is on occasion...
They are actually for Thanksgiving so I thought by telling him that it had sugar, they may stand a chance at making it until dinner. The bars are techinically to make something that he likes (Pumpkin) which is why I was feeling guilty over the sugar and not using the Splenda that he likes. Splenda doesn't always taste great in baking, though...Last edited by JAG&JIV; 11-21-2007 at 04:25 AM.
