Okay, so we are trying to plan a vacation this year. It is kind of last min as far as making reservations etc, but we thought we would give it a try. The problem is that it is difficult to plan somewhere that is great for older kids and 1 yr old twins. We are thinking WDW next year. We have thought of Hawaii, a Disney Cruise, and Nauvoo, Ill. So, I am checking into them all. We have enough sky miles for the whole family, so we are really only looking at expense once we get there. Have you guys been anywhere neat lately? I am afraid Hawaii would be too long of a plane ride for the babies and me, and WDW...we wanted Lexi to be a little older. We cancelled our Disney Cruise to do the IVF, so we really owe them that one unless we can talk them into something. Then, Nauvoo, Ill...we have a lot of Church history there and the last time we went (about 17 yrs ago) we went to Silver Dollar City and a Cardinals game. (Maybe you Ill girls would know more what to do?!) Our boys would love that. I also saw the Paradise Island Resort on the Bahamas on the Today show this morning that looks very kid friendly, but am not sure how much $$ that is? Please help if you know any ideas. Off to google all of them!![]()

Oh Kirsten....you are the experienced one here. DD is 3 or 4? She may be old enough to enjoy WDW...but you are right...the older she gets...maybe even better for her. As far as the babies go...I am not sure myself! We are going to South Carolina this summer. I have a friend that lives an hour away from the Ocean. We will visit and stay with them (They have a 5 mo old ) and then as a group we will take 3 days to stay close to the Ocean via hotel. That is the plan anyway...we are going to drive there. I am very nervous about the drive anyway...I am not such a pro with keeping them in the car for that long anyway! Most of your places sound fun....especially Hawaii. We were going to go there if the last IVF didn't work..not sure when we will make it now!

Brooke--what other places are there that are semi-close to you if we hit Nauvoo? I just looked up Silver Dollar City and ti looks like they have a ton more fun things than when we went before. The beach sounds fun--Lexi was about 18 mos when we went to Cannon Beach in Oregon and she loved the beach...played in the sand for hours day after day. I agree w/ Jermedic...just get some movies...dd loved Elmo movies, and now twins are liking them more and more too. I bet they will be pretty good for you...maybe Kirsten will even sleep longer than usual because you are in the car. I need to have a chat w/ that little girl (my name sake
ha ha!) and tell her to sleep so her mommy can have an occasional break!

Hmmm..the Wisconsin Dells are always a hit! They have several theme parks and water parks that draw lots of family fun! In chicago there is a Six Flags and of course the Cubs! Shawn...might have more Chicago fun sites!....Like the Shed Aquarium, the Museum of Science and History...all sorts of things like that! I just know the Dells are a hit around here!

We arent going on vacation cause there are so many things we can do with J here. We can go to the beach, VA Bch or Nags Head. I am going to take J to the marine science museum at the beach to see all the sea animals. Its like the zoo but has marine animals. Its really cool and i havent been for a while. I'm also taking him to the zoo. I think he is still too young for the chrysler musuem or anything like that.
Then in Williamsburg, about 30+ minutes away is Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. I want to take J to water country really bad. They have life vests available for all sizes so he will get one. And they have a bunch of just little kiddie rides and areas for little ones to play. BG has a ton of kids rides that are near the bigger rides so dh and i dont have to go to different areas for J to ride stuff. They also have some really cool shows.
So we are staying home but doing lots of stuff on the weekends when dh is off. Good luck with your plans.

Universal Studios is a great place for everyone. You can stay at the Nickelodeon Hotel and I hear you don't even have to leave that resort! It is a good alternative to Disney if you want DD be be a little older for Disney. We went with Gianna last year when she was two and she had a blast. There are the two parks there, one with a water area for all ages. We like to stay at condos when we go to Florida, especially with kids. PM me if it is of interest, I can put you in touch with two contact that have condos there. You can stay a week at a 3 bedroom condo in Orlando for cheaper than a hotel.
What about a Beaches resort somewhere, too? They have the Sesame Street characters for the kids and lots of things to do for all.Me 35 DH 45

I've wanted to go to Hershey, Pennsylvania. I don't know how far that is from you. I'm thinking it might be cool although since I've never been there I have no clue as to if it's fun. But I also figured since I'm a dork, we could go to Philadelphia and have a history lesson as well. That'll probably end up next year for us though I think we'll be vacationless this year, but that's fine by me. Good luck choosing somewhere it sounds like you've got a good amount of things to pick from.

I hear the Disney Cruise is great for kids of ages as well as adults. We're planning it for next year. I live pretty close to WDW, but I don't think I'm up for it with M yet. Way too much for her at this age.

We are staying in our usual condo at Hilton Head Island.
If I had the $$ a disney cruise is great for the service, food and kids stuff.
Bahamas sounds good for shorter than a Hawaii trip...but ohhh Hawaii would be hard to pass up. There are TONS of good priced beach houese on Maui for a great price.
