Here is a great "recipe" for removing stains from baby clothes

An FT friend shared this w/me a while back and I have used it several times and it works great!! I have found it removes breastmilk, formula, and baby food stains. I try to use this "recipe" on all the kids clothes before I box them up. Also though you can use it AFTER clothes have been stored for a long time.

Put the following into your washing machine:

1 cup of dishwasher powder (ex. Cascade in a box)
1 cup of powdered Tide
1 cup of powdered Clorox 2 Color Safe Bleach

(Note that all 3 ingredients must be the POWDER version)

Fill the washing machine w/the hottest water that the clothes can take, but just enough water to fully immerse the clothes. Add the clothes and let them soak overnight. The next morning, run the machine through the rest of its wash and rinse cycle. If your machine has a double rinse feature, use it. The recipe is REALLY soapy so you'll need to run the clothes through a 2nd complete wash cycle to really get all the soap out.

Another product I found works great is "Totally Toddler" stain remover/prewash. www.totallytoddler.com They sent me 3 free coupons when the babies were born. You can get it at Kmart, Babies R Us, etc. I use it on a daily basis to spray stains and then use the above recipe for really stubborn stains.

PS: Just wanted to note that everything I have bought from people here has been excellent condition- stain free- but if we can use this recipe on items we thought were "hopeless" then we will have more stuff to buy and sell!

I use that recipe minus the tide and it still works great. I soak them in a tub of hot water with cascade and clorox 2 and then launder as usual (I am anal about only using liquid soap in my washer). All the stains just go away! Love it!!!!

I have known about cascade for years now but you have to be careful on colors with it. I know that is an old nursing remedy for keeping the whites white!

Bumping for those that missed it. As I posted earlier today, it works wonders on stained clothing! I had a few things that I had tried Shout and Oxyclean on and they did nothing, but this works!

Bumping, cause I'm in big need. Bright red lipstick all over the sleeves of a white shirt.

Maybe we should get this pinned.

I did give this a try and it did get out stains on two out of ten pieces. Although, it did cause my girls to get a slight rash even though I rinsed four times I've always used Tide -- never used Dreft or anything and didn't think it would be a problem.
