Can we try something?

I saw on another playgroup this idea, or something similar..can we try to get things moving and people sharing?

Child's age this week-

Something new my child is doing this week-

How is your child's sleep pattern going?-

Something I wish someone had told me before my LO came along-

Child's age this week- Holden will be 8 weeks old this Wednesday

Something new my child is doing this week-Well, the smiles are getting more frequent and more on cue than just random-he's grabbing at things and getting handfulls of my hair or my necklace. He is also rubbing his little eyes when he's sleepy now-so sweet!!

How is your child's sleep pattern going?-Mostly great-he naps a lot during the day and up until this weekend would not touch the crib during the day. So far this week, he's getting better about that. Usually we eat around 7 am and then he goes back to sleep for a couple hours, then usually he's awake until the next feeding, and so on...but this is not always. He has had a couple nights of 7 hours straight between feedings, usually these are when we've been out and he goes to sleep in his carseat and we transfer the sleeping boy to the crib. If he goes to bed around 9 (this is what we try) he normally goes 4-5 hours. Now last night was crazy-he ate at 9 and then he woke up every 2.5 hours on the dot to eat and was up for good at 6 am. Today he would not surrender to sleep until about 11 am. I think I'll let him sleep until he wakes up...he is a great baby but when he's sleepy, he fights it so hard!!!

Something I wish someone had told me before my LO came along-How hard the first 2 weeks were. Once I got past that and my hormones settled down it got better, but there were times in the first 2 weeks I thought I was not going to make it!

Child's age this week- Lilly will be 11 weeks on Friday

Something new my child is doing this week- Sleeping well! We had been haivng really hard nights, but it has improved greatly. Oh, and cereal in her bottles. She LOVES it, and in the evening will not accept a regular bottle.

How is your child's sleep pattern going?- Better. She'll sleep about 7 hours after her bottle with cereal, thens she's up for another bottle with cereal then sleeps another 4-5 hours.

Something I wish someone had told me before my LO came along- That I could handle this. Evenif it is a crippled form with my house a mess most days, and my kids not getting regular baths. I can and am doing it, and it's getting better slowly. Everyone had me scared to death before I had her, telling me how terrile it would be and how I couldn't handle it all by myself.
Child's age this week: 7 weeks 5 days

Something new my child is doing this week: It's not new but he is smiling for longer periods and chuckling. Drakel for some reason LO only does it during his diaper feeds as well! I've been trying to get him to do it at other times (and I've been desperate for a picture) but nope he's only delivered in during the morning changes, lol. He's also definitely more vocal. He's always let us know something's wrong by yelling or shouting out (not crying) and this week it's been stronger. He's such a character!!

How is your child's sleep pattern going? Well on this one I could write a book. He literally is driving me MENTAL. I've got him to go to sleep for 3+ hours at at a time when we first go to sleep (about 11pm) but he will only sleep in his bouncer seat. He hates to be put to sleep on his back or even his side (in his cradle or even in our bed). WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WHEN WE NEED TO TRANSITION HIM TO HIS NURSERY AND TO HIS CRIB? Our nursery is upstairs and unfortunately our master bedroom is downstairs so of course we have him in our room. Once we make the move to his nursery I'll move up with him to the spare bedroom next to his nursery but I'm scared as to how bad it will be. He's a stubborn little fella and I'm dreading how things will transpire.

Something I wish someone had told me before my LO came along:
I don't know, can't think of anything right now. I'll get back to ya

Curly - my oldest dd did the same thing! Unfortunately what worked for her was laying on her stomach which is a big no-no nowadays. I did have to partly use the CIO method with her as well. It isn't easy, and try practicing during the day. Maybe work up to at least one nap a day in his crib for now. And you can always tilt the crib matress up so he would be at the same angle of the bouncer.

Does he spit-up a lot? I'm wondering if there my be some reason like reflux for him not liking laying down. You may want to ask doc at his 2mo appt. Just an idea

I wish this was the case but he rarely spits up. I think he just prefers to be in the seat or on his stomach lying on us. He is extremely stubborn (I'm so scared for the terrible two's to start I think I will mention it to my PED next week (June 12) but my gut is telling me he is very particular.

I've even tried to test him during the day. I'll wait till he's very asleep (20+ mins) and put him in the cradle on his back, and I swear within 30 seconds he's awake and screaming. We bought the angel care monitor and of course the cradle and both have gone to waste it seems. Not that we care about the money, it's just an idea you have in your mind when you're pregnant of how something's going to go and then bam, baby shows who's boss and says nope it's not going down that way, lol!

Cury, that's how Holden is too and it was to the point we were ike, how will a babysitter ever keep him if he won't sleep out of someone's arms? No one will hold him ALL the time like we are willing to do. So we tried him on his belly in the crib during the day only, and it worked! He likes his belly sleep, normally that's how he sleeps on us anyways, so suprisingly it works,
So far though, he is not best at putting himself to sleep. He will at night if he's really tired, but in the daytime, the naps he takes we have to make sure he's asleepbefore he goes down in the crib or swing.

Curly, do you only try laying him on his back? Lilly does not like back sleeping either and has only been okay with it a handful of times. I always lay her on her side, she prefers her right side. And I have one of those sleep positioners where it's two wedges that go on each side of baby. They don't really keep her from moving, but I think they help her feel more secure. Those a fairly cheap, like only $10, so maybe try them and try with him on his side. And you probably thought of it, but make sure you cover him with a blankie when he's laying on you and that stays in place when you transfer him to the crib. That way he doesn't lose the warmness.

I didn't think about putting him on his side, so thanks for that suggestion!! It's worked half the time, as long as he's co-sleeping with us. If he's alone in his cradle he wakes up immedately. If I look back a few weeks he's definitely improving, so I'm hopeful he will come around as he develops and reaches or 4 months.

Are any of your baby's going through a growth spurt? LO is feeding every 1.5 to 2 hours and for sometimes as long as an hour!!

Child's age this week- 3mos 4 days

Something new my child is doing this week- Maddy started smiling and Emmy is pushing up

How is your child's sleep pattern going?- they are starting to sleep through the night!

Something I wish someone had told me before my LO came along- Preemie's can have more problems as they get bigger. Maddy is having such severe reflux that she is on Maalox now and we are thinking she might need an NG tube at home again with continuous feedings.
