    sleeping at night?

Hi everyone! My little man is 6 weeks old, born April 9. Due to some breastfeeding latch on issues (he gets all he needs and gains weight wonderfully, killing my nipples in the process), I put him to breast during the day, and in late afternoon and night use expressed breast milk, 3 or a little more ounces. At night he averages going 4-5 hours..and a couple times he's gone more and we were worried so we went and changed him and fed him waking him up in the process. Is he ok at this point (over 9 lbs) to sleep until he wakes up, or do we need to still wake him up?
Oh, and since I'm pumping at night and not putting to breast, if I don't get up and pump at night will that diminish my supply? I've heard different things!

Drakel congrats on the birth of your son! Our boys are born just 1 day apart

I posted pretty much the exact same questions (bar the pumping) below and got some wonderful answers so you may want to check it out. Basically the ladies here told me it's ok to let your baby sleep past the 3 hours during the night but during the day not to let feedings go longer than every 3x hours. As for not putting him to the breast and also not pumping (I'm no expert) but my LC told me it's ok to give a bottle and not pump now and again (if you have plans to go out or during the night if tired) but she told me if it's done regularly you're basically telling your body not to produce milk at that time so it can diminish your supply. Now and again is fine, but no more than that.

Since our boys are the same age, please let me know when your little one smiles at you! I'm so eager for that day to come, so it's nice to talk to someone who's right there with me.

    Good Luck with everything

my girls are 7 and 8 lbs. My little one is going 6-7 hrs at night between feedings (they are formula fed) my bigger one is up 5-6 hrs. It is ok for them to go that long. They will wake when hungry and let you know they are hungry.

Congrats on your little one. My little ones are 10 weeks old so a little bit older than your little one.

My LO is almost 8 weeks. Will be turning 2 months on June 1st. I went to my LC yesterday and she weighed in at 10 lbs 2 oz.

It's ok to sleep during the night like that. My LO is now sleeping 6 to 8 hours at night. Didn't think that would ever happen. It's been great!!!

During the week (first week back to work), my mom feeds her formula. I pump at work. When I get off of work, she is back on the breast. She does fight the bottle. Me and my dh are afraid that she will get so addicted to the breast, that she will not want the bottle at all. I am just happy that she's feeding off of me so well. Makes me happy that I didn't stop and got the support I needed from the wonderful women on the BF BB. They are really great!!!
