yoga for pregnancy

Hi,

My DH and I have been married for 4 years now(me - aged 30,PCOS and hypothyroid, DH - aged 30, Low sperm motility). We have undergone 4 IUIS, 2 IVFs, 1 FET, all failed cycles. We wanted to take a break and tried yoga to prepare myself for my next IVF. I have conceived now naturally without any ART technique. I believe yoga has actually helped me in conceiving. All the best to you all!!!

Regards,
HM

Congratulations!!!

I've been looking into yoga too. I've been following along with some on tv and just ordered Yoga Practices for Fertility (It should arrive today). Did you take a class? Any recommend poses?

Hello, I have been going to yoga for many years. During my infertility treatments there are times when I should take it easy so I decrease my workouts. I sometimes do yoga during this time and try to take it easy but I have always wondered what poses are beneficial and which I should avoid. I have heard to minimize the twisting poses. What about core strengthen stuff should I avoid that? What poses improve fertility? I am also going to a acupuncturist! Any suggestions. I could go to a Mommie and me yoga class but I would feel funny?

Hello! I bought the DVD by Brenda Strong "Yoga for Fertility". I found it on ebay for a great price. It's about 45 minutes and it focuses on getting good flow to your uterus. I like it.

Hi Jojo,

I've been trying to find out the same thing! I have heard everything from "No yoga" to "Do what your body tells you." I do know that you are not supposed to get overheated. I have a fertility yoga DVD and they say the the restorative postures are safe while cycling. Before starting a cycle, supported bridge, legs on wall, child's pose, lotus, cobbler's, reclining bound angle, and reclining hero are supposed to help with fertility. On the DVD I have they do some of these poses, as well as the warrior, downward facing dog, cat, cow, table, chair, some twisting poses and hip openers. I really like the DVD I got. It's called Yoga Practices for Fertility. It has many different sections including one for breathing, restorative poses, and imagery. There are two other DVD's for fertility. One that pupperlove mentioned and one called Fertility Yoga with Monica Morell. You can see a bit of both of those online (I think youtube for the first one) to see if they seem interesting to you. I couldn't find the one I got online so I just had to have it to see what it was about! I really enjoy it! I start my cycle at the end of this month so I see how the yoga goes! I know I'll be doing some restorative poses for sure!

Barge to say...

This online article has some nice poses for IF: http://www.judithlasater.com/a/makingbabies.html

I have the Brenda Strong dvd and a book called Luna Yoga. We are no longer ttc, so if anyone is interested in buying one or both at a low cost, please PM me.

Thanks,
Kate

yoga for pregnancy

Not sure why my earlier reply to this thread is not here. Anyways, I will type it again here.

My sole aim was to relax my mind to prepare for the next IVF cycle. So, I was doing pranayama, didn't try any of the yoga exercises helping to improve fertility. I believe one pose which helps in improving blood flow to the uterus in pranayama is the "crocodile pose".

Overall i believe, any kind of relaxation to the mind and body helps in achieving pregnancy.

My best wishes and prayers to you all!!!

Hopeful - I cant recall what crocodile looks like, but a lot of the exercises do involved getting blood to the pelvis, such as "legs up the wall" and foward bends. I agree that relaxation is very important. Have you all heard of a site called anji dot com. The founder specializes in relaxation for women but has a focus on fertility. Not to be an ad, but I also have the IVF CD is anyone is interested, since we no longer need it. As I recall it is broken into segments, with guided imagery for the different phases (including retrieval and implantation). Jennifer has a lot of experience in this field and a very calming voice. Check out her site for more info.

Take care,
Kate
