Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone has tried or looked into the Hunyuan method of natural conception? It combines acupuncture/chinese medicine with tradition western medicine? I'm looking into myself but would like to know if there is anyone who has tried this.

Info on Hunyuan Method
Hi!
I have not had the good fortune to see Dr Seidman. I'd also love to hear from one of his patients. But here are some links to the research I've done on/about Hunyuan Method:

Hey there,
I went for my consultation at the Hunyuan clinic in Greenwich, CT last week. Dr Siedman is lovely-very quiet and low-key, but this is good I think as it is very calming and it bodes well when he's asking you somewhat embarrassing questions!
Anyway, I've had 2 sessions of acupuncture so far and I've been on herbs for a week now. They are horrifying to drink but I'm kind of getting used to it already. If it gets me a baby then I'll deal with the taste (and smell!)
He increased the potency of the herbs a bit this week so that I will hopefully see results sooner rather than later. He explained that you usually increase chinese herbs over a really long period, but that we westerners probably wouldn't stick with it long enough if that was the case, so the plan is to increase the potency as we go along.
I feel strangely positive about my decision to try this (I'm probably more of a skeptic than not). If nothing else, the acupuncture is meant to be beneficial before trying IVF so I'm not losing anything there. I'm equally happy for the results (a baby hopefully!) to be due to the placebo effect that doing this might be giving me. Hey, whatever works, right?!
I'm choosing to have a little bit of faith on this one.
Hope that helps. Good luck!
Jules

thank you
Hi Jules,
Thank you so much this information is very helpful. I live in NY and I was thinking about going to Dr Seidman. I have been working with Dr Zheng for acupuncture for 3 weeks. She also gave may herbs to cook and drink...omg awful....lol I hope see some result.... it has been a few months since I have had AF...I took BCP for cyst and after the month I stopped I never had a period. I heard TCM can help get balance back. It seems that Dr Seidman has similar protocol so I am not sure if I will go only because it will be very difficult for me to get there 2xs a week. Thank you for you help and good luck!!!!

I only go to Dr Siedman once a week, and even then, he said that it can be done in 2 week intervals if needed. That said, I don't know if there would be a difference between practitioners of chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture, but I guess there's quite a difference between the competency of medical doctors, so it's possible that there would be a difference.
I'll definitely keep everyone out there up-to-date with any progress!

Jules and CJ29,
I wanted to see a few years later what you both thought. Did you get results? I am thinking about going that direction and had a very close personal friend absolutely love it and think it's the most amazing thing, but I wanted to see if it worked for others.
Many thanks
Beth

Hi Beth,
The hunyan method did nothing for me whatsoever. I went to Dr Seidman for months and paid him over $2000 then, eventually, when I asked him outright if he thought anything was happening as this was my final hope of having my own biological child before I was considering donor egg ivf, he sounded surprised and told me I should do the ivf. This was very frustrating considering that I had told him my condition (obviously) and the fact that I was trying this prior to donor IVF on my consultation visit. I left with the overwhelming feeling that he had been stringing my along for months and if I hadn't said anything then he would just have kept going blindly on.
I did go on to do donor egg ivf and now have an absolutely gorgeous 6 month old baby girl called Evie.
If you do try the hunyuan method I'd be upfront and ask about success rates for your particular condition. I felt like I had to try everything for my own peace of mind before doing IVF but, as you can gather, with hindsight I wish I had saved my time and money for a treatment that had a chance of working.
I wish you every success in whatever route you choose to take!
Jules
