Do you feel any different with acupuncture?

For those of you that have been/are doing acupuncture - do you feel any different? Is there something that tells you that it's working?

When I first started acupuncture he told me it was either going to work or not work. I've had 7 treatments so far and I don't feel any different. In fact I went for one yesterday and he asked me if I'm feeling any different since starting the treatments and I had to tell him no. Could that mean it's not really working for me? I have noticed a change in my menses but I'm not sure if it's the acupuncture or the fact I started bcp for my cycle a couple months ago. I'm not sleeping any better and although I don't really feel any better, I don't feel any worse either. I enjoy going (only time I actually get an hour to myself - LOL) but I hate the thought of wasting time & money if it's not working. KWIM?

Our donor egg cycle will be starting soon so maybe I'll see something on the u/s to give me a good feeling that it's working. I've always had a great lining without treatment (avg 12 with triple layer). I just wish there was a way to know if it's really working.

I'd really love to hear your experiences. Thanks,

Yes, I Felt A Difference!

Ellen,

I have been doing Acup. for about 7 months now. I immediately started feeling the effects. I am much better for it and much healthier. My primary reason for going was for my IF. (My Acup. specializes in IF) However, I had bad allergies, asthma, insomonia, PMS-heavy bleeding. All have gotten better with Acup. I actually don't even take allergy medication anymore, after years of using Claritin & Allegra. I didn't want to be taking a lot of meds. during pregnancy. I believe it was the key that help me get pg with my IVF too. Mine was a case of Eastern and Western medicine in a collaboration.

However, it's like any other medicine. It works for some, and then it doesn't work for others. I would think after 7 treatments you would notice some difference. I know I did after 2-3 visits. I responded very well to Acup.

Maybe give it a couple-3 months. If no improvement or change, maybe you should think about stopping or trying another Acup. Best wishes to you.

SUAL

Thanks SUAL and CONGRATS on your pregnancy!!! How frequently were you going? For now, I've only been going 1x/week. When I initially spoke with him he had said we'd start at just every other week because I'm using donor egg. However, when he learned I have Crohn's and have a massive wall of adhesions caused by multiple abdominal surgeries he suggested we start 1x/week immediately. Our donor should be starting bcp next week so we're probably looking at a transfer first week in June. I believe he'll have me going 2-3x/week as we get closer to transfer.

I really want to believe it's working. I'm thinking I just don't pay enough attention to how I feel to know if I feel any different. I'm hoping when I start having u/s again in the near future that I can see the results. Thankfully, I enjoy going so it's not like I dread it or anything. I just hate wasting money. I guess, if nothing else, he's gotten me to drink tons of water, almost no soda, and no coffee! And considering I was drinking 40 oz decaf coffee every day along with one 16 oz soda - well I suppose that has to help, right?

Well, I've rambled a bit. Great to hear your success story! Wishing you a wonderful pregnancy.

Well...I just had to add this. I had "ear accupuncture" this AM and I felt a complete difference in my mood. I was all tensed up before I went, and now I am all relaxed and less stressed...almost immediately when I walked out of there....so I guess there are times when you can feel a difference....amazing.

I was wondering if any of you had bad experience's with acupuncture. I went for my first appt. 2 wks ago and I was in bed for a week afterwards, I was so sore and achy. I called my acupunterist and she said that 20-30% of people react in that manor. I was just wondering if I was alone in feeling this way.

Hello all I think I have noticed a difference since starting acupuncture but not really what I expected. I expected to be all relaxed and calm and so on and so on however I think something is wrong that I actually have become very moody and depressed, hard on and down on myself. Someone told me that it's normal because some people have stagnation caused by negative emotions and feelings that have been burried and they are being released but oh my gosh! I couldn't have expected all of this. I am also taking Free & Easy Wanderer Plus, the formula is supposed to help with these symptoms so maybe my acu knew something I didn't before starting (it always amazes me what they know and the little things they notice) Anyway I did notice though last saturday after my 3rd treatment that my vision cleared up for a while that day. I am slightly nearsighted and usually when I pull up the channel guide on my tv it's blurry but on saturday it was clear as can be. Unfortunately after a few hours it was back to blurry again but I have been reading people with liver qi stagnation have vision problem and well I suppose what she is doing really does work. So if you call mood swings and temporary clearing of my vision a sign that it's working then yep I've got them. lol Not just the sign's I expected. lol Best wishes!!!

PS- I go once a week every Saturday.
