Forum: Alternative Parenting Styles

As parents, we often hear, "do what works best for your family." Join us in a supportive atmosphere to discuss alternative parenting methods such as attachment parenting (babywearing, co-sleeping, no-cry sleep strategies), positive discipline, no TV, selective or delayed vaccinations, uncircumcised boys, vegan/vegetarianism, massage for babies/toddlers, and yoga/meditation for older kids.

    1. Getting any flack from natural weening?

My DS will be 4 in May and my family think I'm insane because he is still having milky..He will not go to sleep without it. He is only nursing at bedtime, and not to often when he wakes up. He's gotten so independent that it's almost our only real bonding time. At this point I don't even mention it...

    2. Sleep

I am hoping someone out there can give me some advice on how to get my son, who just turned 1 year, to sleep better. He still wakes up every 2 hours. He has never slept through the night. The most he has ever slept is about 4 hours and that was only once or twice. He is breastfed, so I am fine...

    4. Question Result of ferber method

My gal will be reaching 1 year old soon and I have started to use Ferber Method to train her sleep since 1.5 weeks ago. The result is she could sleep by herself after at most 15 mins crying non-stop. However, I have below query: 1) Even after 1.5 week, everytime I put her into her crib, she...

This post is NOT IN ANY WAY intended to start a vaccine debate. Not even going there. I am posting this because I believe in the freedom of information and parental choice. Please refrain from debate because I'd hate to see this thread locked. I've watched this entire video online between...

    9. co-sleeping

I had some questions about co-sleeping, for a newborn do you use something special to put the baby in or just lay him/her down directly on the bed? Is a queen size bed too small for both parents and the baby to sleep comfortably and safely, is king size more preferable? And also, sorry if this...

    11. I wish there was a way to recycle child carseats...

I have to throw away 2 car seats this month. One for expiring, one because I was in a minor accident yesterday and I don't trust the seat anymore (everyone was fine in the accident... it was minor). Now because they both appear to be fine, I have to destroy them so that no one will pick them up off...

I just had my little girl a little over a week ago and have been using disposables while I recover. My twin boys are 1 month old, and are scheduled to get their first set of shots at 2 months, in the first week of February. Can a pocket diaper be used as a cover for a prefold? Can they be used like a diaper cover over a prefold that's been pinned with a snappi? Also,...
