I haven't been able to find Tofutti here. The soy cheese (not sure of brand) was nasty looking (slimy) so I didn't buy it. I was able to find vegan rice cheese, but it doesn't melt very well. I guess I'll have to make a trip across the border. (And then I'd just *have* to hit the outlet stores while I'm there... what a shame! )

DS is able to eat the plain Prego (I called the company to verify no milk). I think it's the "traditional" one.

Our dd prefers Tofutti cheddar cheese, but for some reason there's been a shortage of it here lately :dunno: The store we buy it out usually has a good supply on hand all the time but they were completely out for the past 4 weeks... it was getting desperate at our house lol! Then this weekend when I was shopping they had exactly *one* package which I swooped up and grabbed before anyone else got it... something's gotta be up with Tofutti

FWIW we found a different dairy-free cheddar during our time of Tofutti-crisis that doesn't come in slices but apparently is acceptable as macaroni-cheese for our dd. I'll check the name next time I get as far away from the computer as my kitchen

    ps - the box mix I mentioned isn't "Roadhouse" it's "Road's End"

I didn't know Tofutti made a cheddar! I've never seen it here. We've had trouble getting the American singles the past few weeks. The store said it's some sort of distribution problem. I'm down to 2 packages, so I hope it comes in soon!

You know what Cel, I called it Cheddar but it's the American singles I was talking about DD calls it cheddar because it's the same color as her parents' cheese And I have to admit, I've never tasted it

I definitely hope they get their distribution problem figured out pronto!

Me too!!! DS lives on that cheese. I've tried it. It's not too bad and does sort of have an Amer cheese flavor to it! I actually put some on order with the store so we'd definitely get them when they come in, but no call yet. The store didn't think it was an issue with the manufacturer. If they ever stopped making that product, I don't know what we'd do! We did try the Vegan Gourmet cheddar, which DS hated. But he does like their mozzarella (we use that for pizza, he likes it better than the Tofutti mozzarella) and monterrey jack.

I have never heard of Tofutti cheese. You guys are making me want to run out and buy some for Jeran. Although it sounds like it's currently in short supply.

The website says they have it at Trader Joe's. Has anyone bought it there? Trader Joe's normally puts their own label on stuff, right? I might just go to Marlene's and check there. I wish Safeway had it.

Dawn, I've never found the singles at TJ's. WF doesn't sell it anymore, since it's not organic! I usually buy it at Fruitful Yield, a local health food store. I know there are other health food stores in the area that carry it too. I'm not sure if Meijer carries it, but I know some of the other chain grocers in the Chicago area don't (Jewel, Dominick's). The company has a store locator you can try on their website, then contact that store to see if they have that product. The Tofutti products are great! They make everything from ice cream products to cream cheese to sour cream and more! They are soy though, for people needing to avoid that.

We do not have items containing the allergens (peanuts and almonds) in our home.

We do, however, have a few foods that are "may contains." DS doesn't eat those, but the rest of us do.
