Angeles will be staying at her same Catholic school and going to first grade, she has been having a tough time staying in her seat at school. She is such a social butterfly (just her mommy) But academically she is doing fine. Poor thing first grade will be tough as far as discipline and not so much play time.

K is going as well. I wasn't sure if she was ready socially because she at times seems so immature but her teacher said she is at level and above in several things and holding her back would only bore her. She will be one of the younger 1st. graders. I think K is going to have a very hard time next year as well with the transition. She goes to Montessori now so they do things differently than regular school. Not sure how it will be for her next year but we shall see. We start Aug. 25th. I am sure she will shed many tears....
She is a drama queen..... She will definitely miss that extra free time!

We are moving on to 1st grade as well. I too was a bit unsure about starting Ana in Kindergarten since she is a summer birthday and being such a small little thing. Well she surprised me and is doing just fine academically her biggest issue is doing everything in what we like to call Ana time. She is very much a slow poke in most everything she does especially if it isn't something she wants to do. Next year will be much more demanding and she is going to have to speed up or get left in the dust. it will be interesting.

Marielle will go to 1st grade and Rico starts Kindergarten next year. Hard to believe, huh?
Marielle does fine...she's missed 28 days of school so far this year but we fill in at home and do extra work as well. We are working on her writing skills and her reading skills right now. She is a level 2 reader but doesn't like to read, so we practice to help her along.
Rico has picked up so many skills from watching Marielle. He already knows quite a few sight words, can sound out words and can't wait to start K. He loves "reading" and has a book in his hands first thing in the morning to last thing before he falls asleep at night.Marie L, Mama to Marielle, 9 and Rico, 8

Max will repeat Kindy but that was the plan all along. He needed more than daycare but was not ready for Kindy to start. We sent him to a private school with an exceptional teacher and small class size. He has come a LONG way but repeating will do wonders for him. We are sending him to the public school for his repeat so it will be bigger and different and we hope he will take on a bit of a leadership role.

No 1st grade here, Meg missed the cut off for kindergarden by 4 days out here, and the school system does not budge by letting them in if they miss by a few days. She's not ready anyway, I sometimes wonder if she's mentally ready for kindergarden~we'll find out in a few months!

Hanna will go on to 1st grade. She had a really rough start w/ the separation, and it's all day. But she finally adjusted & has thrived. She was put in the gifted program & is also reading at a 3rd grade level. She's got her Daddy's brains! I just hope that next fall we don't have a repeat of the tears.

Im not sure yet if Jake will move on to 1st grade or repeat K. He still struggles with handwriting, he's a lefty and has a really hard time, though some of his problem is he wants to rush through everything, if he takes his time he does okay. He does pretty well with sight words and very well with math.I spoke with the teacher a month or so ago and I told her if she felt he needed to repeat that I was okay with it...now Im kind of doubting that statement..Im worried that he will feel like a failure. I think most times they send the kids onto 1st grade and at the end of that year if they are struggling then they repeat it. He made our cutoff by 5 days, he turned 5 on 9/25 and cutoff was 9/30. Part of me wishes I held him back. some of the kids in his class are 6 already and one girl just turned 7 so he is the baby of the class for sure.
