I was recently diagnosed with a bilateral 100% distal blockage (both my tubes are blocked on the ends by the ovaries - 0 spillage from either tube). It's a little devastating to hear that esp being told that most of the time it's from a chlamydia infection (which I've never had...Never had anything related to an STD). Also my RE said that those are the hardest types of blockages to fix - however I have had 1 chemical pregnancy last year (3/09) so he's optimistic it can be corrected with a laporoscopy/hysteroscopy (he's hopeful it's just a large amount of mucous that the HSG didn't have enough force or volume to clear). But I'm nervous....not necessarily about having a surgery (I'm a L&D Nurse at the hospital I would have the surgery at so I know my OB personally and who would be doing my anesthesia). My RE showed me some pictures of some pretty horrible adhesions in the area that my blockage is at that are total deal breakers as far as conceiving conventionally or with IUI (because that's most likely, i guess he's setting me up for the worst case scenario).
Have any of you been told you had Bilateral distal blockages and had a lap done? Can you tell me your experiences with that? Or are any of you guys going through the same thing right now??

I just had lap done April 12th my doc thought one of my tubes was blocked but when they got in there they were both full of scar tissue so he removed both of them. I also have never ever had an std I have never even had an abmormal pap, so I'm very confused about what could have caused it. I go in for my post op tomorrow so hopefully I will have more answers. I will post what my doc says =) Oh by the way the surgery was very easy just a little pain the next few days from the gas they put in your tummy.

RE:lap
Hi Cahowland,
Firstly, I just wanted to say hi to you, I am also an L&D nurse and we have a similar diagnoses....
I too have bilateral tube blockage and found out via a lap last year; I have the blockage from a perforated appendix that happened in 2001.There was lots of scar tissue in and around my tubes and ovaries and many adhesions that needed to be cut away.
The procedure itself is very simple and you will know more once the surgery is done, hopefully it is a simple repair and you will be able to get pregnant easily once they are both open. Its normal to prepare yourself for the worst, but since you have not had any infections that would cause this chances are it will be an easy fix!
Good luck to you and keep us posted on how everything goes.

hoping19- were you able to get pg easily since the lap? i might have to get a lap done but i am nervous to since all of my other tests came out normal. i know that the only way to tell if there is blockages is to do the lap but i am weighing my options and the risks since there might not be anything there. Thanks!

Hey MSB88
So far, no luck in getting pregnant
I have bilateral tube blockage and lots of scaring on my ovaries too. We are doing our first IVF cycle next month.
Have you had an HSG? It showed your tubes were patent? Why are you nervous to have the scope? It may prove to be worthwhile if you guys are having trouble?
Good luck to you!
