what causes uterine scarring?

I can't figure out why my uterus is scarred. Just found out yesterday. I've never had a D & C in my life (or even been pregnant, as far as I know). Anyone else have this happen? It's very puzzling.

How scarred? What's your prognosis? You must be shocked.

What comes to mind for me is Ashermann's syndrom (somebody I know had this).
Online I find it's caused 90% of the time by a D&C. Otherwise perhaps "infections related to IUD use (or the placement of any foreign object within the uterine cavity), some uncommon infections of the uterus (such as intrauterine tuberculosis or Schistosomiasis)".

But whose to say which? I still wonder why my left tube was blocked... My REs just shrug at me.

As for Ashermann's, the person I knew got pg without treatment, but I read "for mild to moderate adhesions, you might expect a 60-80% chance of successful pregnancy after repair."

S-

Thanks for the info. and most of all the reassurance that your friend was able to get pregnant. LOVED your line: "My REs just shrug at me." EXACTLY. Ugh.

It's only 20% of the uterus that is scarred, so my RE still thinks I might be able to get pregnant, but he wants to freeze my embies (which aren't great quality to begin with- scary...) and then put them in later when my lining is extra thick.

I feel like... great! Just one more thing that is wrong with me. I'm getting so worn-out as my list of possible reasons is getting rather long and I don't think I did anything to deserve this. But as my signature says, I am undefeated and I am going to keep fighting a little while longer.

How are you?

What are your lab's thaw rates? Do they use vitification, or whatever it is, that I've been hearing about?

I had a friend who wanted to put a FE in on a subsequent IVF cycle and her RE had to arm wrestle her to convince her it was in the best interest of the FE to wait for a plump-up-the-uterus FET cycle. Hers is not the same situation as yours, but I get the principal.

I'm glad you're still on the court and in the game!! You go, girl!

I'm exhausted. Work, last-ditch IUI cycle (meds?), foster care delay, mortgage refi, house guest coming... Mostly it's the emotion of the first three, although I drove my broker crazy with the amount of control I wanted over my refi. I was very frank - there are other areas of my life that are very much out of my control right now, so these are the terms of my refi that I will agree to... yadda, yadda, yadda.

LOL at your reason for edit.

Wow! You have ton of stressful things going on right now... Whew- I'm tired just reading it. The foster care process must be an emotional rollercoaster, too. And good for you for being very specific about your refinancing- that's definitely an area where everyone should be precise. Who cares if the broker gets annoyed with you, right?

Luckily, my clinic (SIRM) uses vitrification and my RE said they only have a 1-2% fail rate in thawing. So that's good. I don't know if they would freeze them on day 3 or day 5. I think he wanted to take me to day 5, but I'd probably only have one (at most two- or maybe none?) embies to freeze. I don't think I have it in me anymore to do a bunch of banking cycles.

I'm glad you are still in the game, too. We must be die-hards. Or else we're addicted to the stim drugs- nah...
