Sound neat

I've been on FT for a few years now and hadn't found this board. My triplets (g/b/g) just turned 3 and I could really use ideas to keep them from just randomly bouncing off the walls, especially as the colder weather will soon be here.

I did try their first 'game' and now DD asks to play it again. My SIL suggested using a large pan and filling it with something for them to put their hands into. Silly me, I tried rice the first time. Then I hid coins in it and each got a turn trying to find all the coins. Next time I think I'll try something a bit less messy. I bought some pinto beans at the store last week, but haven't tried again yet.....I'm still picking rice up off the kitchen floor.

well, again, super messy, but I've been doing sand art w/ my son, he loves it. I got about 6 colors in a box from Walmart, then we use baby food jars or old spice jars to put the sand in.

He loves to attempt to cut things out. I stand in the kitchen working on dishes and tell him to draw a shape, then he tries to cut it out. I "verbally" walk him thru making pictures, sometimes going over to help, but trying to help from a distance so I can get work done.

This is a GREAT one... we have an old fashioned shopping cart toy from the 70"s maybe? well it's nice and sturdy compared to the cheep plastic these days, anyways, he helps me w/ my house work by "zooming" things off to the right room. He will take away the babies diapers, her soiled laundry, his laundry, mine, he zooms away his toys one at a time (which takes longer, but keeps him busy) he keeps looking for things to "zoom" away. He just loves this game and he REALLY helps me get things done. He can put away Daddy's socks, and underware, he can take snack bowls and cups to the sink.

I'm also getting ready to work on making snacks and drinks more accessable for him so he can help himself instead of asking me allll day. I'm going to put some healthy snacks in lots of little bags in a drawer, and put some dixie cups on the sink by his steps for water. (He'll have to ask permission, but be able to help himself)

as far as entertaining 3? I have worked as a nanny for years, today I was babysitting for another child w/ mine as well, and what worked for me was to talk them thru the activities teaching them how to play together. One would drive the truck to the store to get animal feed, while the other child was walking all the animals in from the barn yard to the barn, then I walked them thru playing grocery store together, one being the customer and the other at the cash register. they had a lot of fun. Maybe your kids play well together? my son is usually alone so I have to walk him thru the steps and teach them how they can play together, so he doesn't always depend on me

hope some of that helps...

I saw a new report on the Today Show today. It said we can make our children smarter by playing with preschoolers doing things such as putting things in a bag and having them find it by sense of touch. it works another area of their brain. It c/b a fun game. I searched a link for it, but didn't find it on their site. Maybe it'll show up tomorrow. Perhaps it was a last minute story.

They also talked about eating foods with DHA in them and ADD being prevental by diet.
